Digi Pack

Digipack is a patented style of compact disc packaging, it can also be used for DVDs and is a registered trademark of AGI Media. Digipacks are a gate fold paperboard with one or more plastic trays capable of holding a CD or DVD attached to the inside.

Here is a picture of how we want our digipack to look like on the front cover but with our superhero on the front.

For our digipack we would like to have the picture of our superhero on the front and we would like to give it a comic book appeal and make it bright so that it stands out and below is a rough idea of how we would like the digipack to look like around the superhero.

This will allow the effect of a comic book effect to our digipack and brightens the digipack to attract people towards it.

Change in ideas

We went out to film, but before we started filming we spoke about our ideas for the film. We decided to change our ideas for different parts of the music video as some of it was time consuming and would be hard to complete it in time. We are going to have someone in a lab coat doing a science experiment taking down notes of different formulas. We will then show shots of it going into a comic book sort of video with scenes being shown in image and then different shots being acted out from the comic book. We still hope to portray the lyrics from our song in our shots. We still hope to use a sort of superhero concept to our music video.

Started filming

We started filming our music video. We worked with another group helping each other out when we were videoing the band sequence using the same props. Whilst we were working together we found it was easier and quicker as we were able to use each others camera to get more than one shot so that it saved us time. We got the band sequence finished meaning we only have to do the other shots. We were in the drama room in which we had a black background which we were able to have flashing lights to make the concert scene look more realistic. We borrowed some props from the music department to use in our band scene we used guitars and a mike. They wore costumes that fitted in with the bands style and the style of music to make it look more authentic. We also had a digital camera and used it to take pictures of us filming to show steps of what were doing.

David bowie - Ashes to ashes
Ultravox - Vienna

Ultravox viennas music video had no band playing any instruments in their video and made it look more like a film to grab peoples attention.

Duran Duran - Girls on film

Duran duran girls on film was banned for its video. It was the first controversial video and it also shows alot of sexual content causing it to be banned it also celebrates the excess of the video.

Storyboard finished

We have nearly finished storyboarding and have chosen most of the shots we are going to use in the video. We are trying to make all of the ideas fit together so the story makes some sense, we are having most of the shots being in a dream from where he fell over. Whilst storyboarding we were also asking different people on what they thought of our ideas most liked it but some disliked it but we asked why and sort of changed it to make it better.

Top 100 music videos

I watched a programme of the top 100 music videos which through it some stood out to me and one of them was Michael Jackson thriller.

Michael Jackson thriller

Thriller got many good reviews about the video. The video shows everyone turning into zombies and that they are all after the women who is not a zombie. This portrays the lyrics as the lyrics talk about thriller representing thriller in the video. The costumes and make-ups has been done so good that it adds to the effect of them looking more like real zombies. Final ideas

Whilst storyboarding to show what the end product would sort of look like, we came up with many different ideas and our video is going to be telling a story. A neighbour/friend of the band has been partying with them all night long. They have a concert the next day and the friend is supposed to be going to it. He wakes up late and suddenly rushes around, he falls knocking a fruit bowl over near by. He then looks up and sees a orange singing to him in which at this moment he is in a dream. . He then explores the forest around him and meets a strange mystical looking character, the main villain in the video. We had the idea of having a hero and villain because the song has the lyric "Superhero" in it, but we have mixed it up because it also says "Not the comic book kind". We also have some playing cards, that are all the same card, this would help illustrate the lyrics "one of a kind" and we hope to use this as the main "power" for the villain. A car then appears out of nowhere and he gets in it. It takes him to a phone box and he gets inside and he then stands up and walks outside realising he is late he is in a rush in which he then he puts on a cape and flies through the air. He then arrives at the concert realising the song has finished in which he then wakes up to where he fell and realises he is not late. We tryed to represent the lyrics throughout the song making sure that each set of lyrics at least matched one of the scenes.

Copyright

We got the song from unsigned.com where they were never had copyright so we were able to use them without copyrighting. We still got authorisation just ask them and make sure they didnt mind anyway.

If someone does not get authorisation from the people who's item or product it is and if it was to be copyrighted then they could suffer a fine for copyright.

Here is a definition of copyright taken from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright:
