Last bit of editing ....

We finally have the last bits of editing together after piecing all of the different shots from different scenes in all that is left to do now is get the still images of the film done for the transitions for each new scene. We are going to have these still images as that transitions to make it look like someone is reading a comic book this can easily be done and will help make our video have more of a superhero theme to it as it is shown scene by scene in the video. Now all that is left to do is to evaluate the video.

More inspiration!

This video inspired us with the idea of doing the superhero idea for our video and this is sort of how we would like to either look like or have parts of it which are similar.

Last bit of filming

We done our last bit of filming now meaning we only have all of the editing left to do in which we will have done soon as weve edited most of the shots we have already filmed. We now just need to to do still imges of the film to stick in as transitions in the editing to make it have a comic book effect.

Superhero training scene

We went out and filmed a scene of the superhero training to be a real-good superhero. In this scene we used a stunt double for Andrew so that we was able to make the stunts look more realistic. We was in a park which had various apparatus in which the stunt double performed various flips as Andrew was unable to do it and would have been to dangerous to attempt it. We then cut them in with shots of Andrew. If we edit it correctly then it would make the shots look like the same person other than two different ones.

Filming up London

We had a shot of Andrew standing on the corner of ledge in which it helped to make him look more like a real superhero. We originally was going to film on top of a building which would have an overlook so we that we would have a good city view, we was unable to do this as the place we was going to do it which was the National Theatre Gallery was too busy so we was unable to do that. We went on looking elsewhere for another location so that we could get the scene done in which eventually we found a wide ledge which Andrew stood on the corner, which was quite high up from the ground we then had the camera at the bottom getting a low shot looking up to make him look like a real superhero. The ledge was wide enough so that it was ok to stand on making sure that he wouldnt fall Danny also stood behind Andrew just to make sure it was safer for Andrew. The shot was successfull and we got what was needed so Andrew was able to get down safely without having been hurt. There were also many tourist and members of the public taking pictures and pointing as if Andrew was a real superhero.

Costume sorted

We have finally sorted out the costume and what it is that he will be wearing. We have come up with that he will be wearing a black costume and a small black mask/ sunglasses over my face. We also have red gloves and cape to stop the costume appearing dull. Now all that is left to do is film the last few shots.

More filming

We done more filming today, we filmed Andrew drawing pictures of costume ideas so that he can wear to show his a unique superheroe and that he is one of kind which ties in with our lyrics. Below shows the spiderman montage which we see him thinking of a costume design to make himself a one of a kind superheroe.

We done various shots of the costume designs making sure we had alot of different ones so we were able to show that the superheroe was making sure that the costume he picked would make him stand out from other superheroes.

Filming another scene

I wasn't in on the day of the filming that was done for this certain scene but I was told what was done. The filming was done in a biology lab when it was free to start filming the opening scenes. He got all costumed up for the scene. We also then got formulas from the internet which were wrote on the whiteboard making it look like he is making a secret formula for something. Different equipment was set up. The test tubes were then filled up with different drinks to make them look like potions. We then filmed him carrying out experiments with the formula. The test tubes were then mixed together and drunk which give him super-powers. We now need a scene of him thinking of different costume ideas after gaining the super-powers. We already have the costume and once done it all we will begin editing it all together.

Ideas for a scene

We have come up with the idea of a geek in a lab is working out a formula to give him super powers which will fit in with the lyrics when it says “Hes a super hero”.

We are also deciding to have different colour drinks which will represent the different potions that has been created from the formulas. This will require many different props such as a lab coat, goggles, a whiteboard and some testtubes to make the scene work.

Test editing

Here is the video of us puting someones eyes and mouth on to a piece of fruit in which we had them say something so that we could use the speech to make sure the mouth was always going to be on the fruit in this case the passion fruit. We hope to use this idea in our film with the person on the fruit singing some of the lyrics from our song instead of just someone speaking. There were a few issues with the eyes and mouth on the fruit is that it moved of the fruit sometimes so when we do it next time round we will need them to be perfectly still and just singing some of the lyrics so that the eyes and mouth are always on the fruit.

Editing

We have been practising on how to put someones face on to an orange to make it look like the orange is singing. We have been looking it up on youtube videos on to how to do it and this is one of the videos in which we found on how to put someones face on to the orange.

Digi Pack

Digipack is a patented style of compact disc packaging, it can also be used for DVDs and is a registered trademark of AGI Media. Digipacks are a gate fold paperboard with one or more plastic trays capable of holding a CD or DVD attached to the inside.

Here is a picture of how we want our digipack to look like on the front cover but with our superhero on the front.

For our digipack we would like to have the picture of our superhero on the front and we would like to give it a comic book appeal and make it bright so that it stands out and below is a rough idea of how we would like the digipack to look like around the superhero.

This will allow the effect of a comic book effect to our digipack and brightens the digipack to attract people towards it.

Change in ideas

We went out to film, but before we started filming we spoke about our ideas for the film. We decided to change our ideas for different parts of the music video as some of it was time consuming and would be hard to complete it in time. We are going to have someone in a lab coat doing a science experiment taking down notes of different formulas. We will then show shots of it going into a comic book sort of video with scenes being shown in image and then different shots being acted out from the comic book. We still hope to portray the lyrics from our song in our shots. We still hope to use a sort of superhero concept to our music video.

Started filming

We started filming our music video. We worked with another group helping each other out when we were videoing the band sequence using the same props. Whilst we were working together we found it was easier and quicker as we were able to use each others camera to get more than one shot so that it saved us time. We got the band sequence finished meaning we only have to do the other shots. We were in the drama room in which we had a black background which we were able to have flashing lights to make the concert scene look more realistic. We borrowed some props from the music department to use in our band scene we used guitars and a mike. They wore costumes that fitted in with the bands style and the style of music to make it look more authentic. We also had a digital camera and used it to take pictures of us filming to show steps of what were doing.

Storyboard finished

We have nearly finished storyboarding and have chosen most of the shots we are going to use in the video. We are trying to make all of the ideas fit together so the story makes some sense, we are having most of the shots being in a dream from where he fell over. Whilst storyboarding we were also asking different people on what they thought of our ideas most liked it but some disliked it but we asked why and sort of changed it to make it better.

Thriller got many good reviews about the video. The video shows everyone turning into zombies and that they are all after the women who is not a zombie. Final ideas

Whilst storyboarding to show what the end product would sort of look like, we came up with many different ideas and our video is going to be telling a story. A neighbour/friend of the band has been partying with them all night long. They have a concert the next day and the friend is supposed to be going to it. He wakes up late and suddenly rushes around, he falls knocking a fruit bowl over near by. He then looks up and sees a orange singing to him in which at this moment he is in a dream. . He then explores the forest around him and meets a strange mystical looking character, the main villain in the video. We had the idea of having a hero and villain because the song has the lyric "Superhero" in it, but we have mixed it up because it also says "Not the comic book kind". We also have some playing cards, that are all the same card, this would help illustrate the lyrics "one of a kind" and we hope to use this as the main "power" for the villain. A car then appears out of nowhere and he gets in it. It takes him to a phone box and he gets inside and he then stands up and walks outside realising he is late he is in a rush in which he then he puts on a cape and flies through the air. He then arrives at the concert realising the song has finished in which he then wakes up to where he fell and realises he is not late. We tryed to represent the lyrics throughout the song making sure that each set of lyrics at least matched one of the scenes.

Copyright

We got the song from unsigned.com where they were never had copyright so we were able to use them without copyrighting. We still got authorisation just ask them and make sure they didnt mind anyway.

If someone does not get authorisation from the people who's item or product it is and if it was to be copyrighted then they could suffer a fine for copyright.

Here is a definition of copyright taken from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright:

"Copyright is a set of exclusive rights granted to the author or creator of an original work, including the right to copy, distribute and adapt the work. Copyright does not protect ideas, only their expression or fixation. In most jurisdictions copyright arises upon fixation and does not need to be registered. Copyright owners have the exclusive statutory right to exercise control over copying and other exploitation of the works for a specific period of time, after which the work is said to enter the public domain. Uses which are covered under limitations and exceptions to copyright, such as fair use, do not require permission from the copyright owner. All other uses require permission and copyright owners can license or permanently transfer or assign their exclusive rights to others."

Ideas

We have come up with many ideas, all of which tie in with the lyrics of our song. We have made an ideas collage and are in progress of storyboarding all the different shots we are going to use and how to fit them together. For the first verse we will be lip sync it. We are going to be in room which we will try to make it look like a concert going on where the band is playing. We are going to have various lights shone to make the concert scene look more realistic. At the end of the concert we will show the band going off to party with some of the members out of the audience, we are going to do this to represent the lyrics where he sings "My neighbour". During the party you'll also realise that we are portraying more of the lyric when he says "He smokes too much and drinks all the time". We would then like to show one of the audience members stumbling and going into a dream in which they will wake up next to a table with a fruit bowl on it, in which a piece of fruit will begin to sing. This will be hard to get right in the video but after researching into how to do it on final cut pro we believe it might be difficult but we think we will be able to pull it off.

We will also use a character which will look and be one of a kind this will help once again to portray our superheroe idea. We will also use a deck of cards to show this so that their not just an ordinary deck of cards but are different and not just the same as other decks of cards.

Preliminary task

Our preliminary task involved a short clip of lip-synching to a track. The song was played in the background out loud while they were lip-synching to it on camera, this made it easier as they were able to sing along to it. We used Final cut express to edit the shots into a short video, at first we found it difficult but gradually began to catch on how to use it. We began to experiment with it trying different transitions with each shot and splitting the screen between two shots.

Apartment 509 lyrics

My neighbor’s name is zero
He’s a super hero
But not the comic book kind, he smokes too much and drinks all the time
The ladies hate his x-ray vision
He’s always on a secret mission
Never worrys who will get him there, he puts on a cape and flies through the air

Chorus
This guy is one of a kind
He’s down the hall in apartment 509
Just another neighbor of mine

Verse 2
(same as verse 1)

Chorus

Bridge
I swear I saw him on the late show last night
He sure leads a charmed life
Would you tell the truth or keep a disguise?
It’s not for me to decide

Cee Lo Green - Forget You

Mise-en-scene

At the start of the video and during the video we see animations of writing showing us the stages in his life in relations to this we see various costumes each costume he wears also represents stages in his life. So for one point we see an animation saying the college years and then him dressed how he might have dressed for college. During the video there is Props used such as a toy ferrari car and a toy dustbin lorry which are used to express the lyrics said, he relates to the toy car and lorry to what he is trying to express throughout the lyrics.

cinematography

At the start of the film we are showed the title of the song and singer using animation to make it stand out introducing them to the audience. During the video the cuts are quick and jump regularly back to him as he is now. There are cuts used such as swipe which involve the shot being wiped over another shot, we know who the main person of the video as the shots always jump back to him regularly. Throughout we are shown a representation of his life as the shots always jump back to him showing this was him during his earlier stages of life, it then jumps back to a scene representing other stages and that he is still after years chasing the girl he loved when he was younger.

Brief

This will differ from the thriller as it will face different challenges such as lip-syncing in the editing suite with many others groups also needing it for the same reason. The music video will be of at least 3 minutes long and will consist of variety of techniques which will include lip-synching and editing.
